Day 1TBILISSI

Airport transfer; hotel check-in
Lunch at the hotel, followed by a tour of Tbilisi. Visit Sameba Cathedral and the flea market. Take the funicular up to Mtatsminda and dine in a gourmet restaurant with breathtaking panoramic views over the whole of Tbilisi. Dinner and overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 2TBILISSI

Breakfast at the hotel
You’ll visit the Narikhala fortress, created in the 4th century and considerably enlarged since then by the Umayyads, King David the Builder, and then destroyed by the Mongols. It overlooks Tbilisi and the Mtkvari river, offering panoramic views of Tbilisi. Lunch in the historic center of Tbilisi. You’ll stroll through the maze of the old town, a veritable jewel of architecture and layout, with its carved wooden balconies, winding cobbled streets… old Tbilisi is both an Oriental city and a medieval European town. Lunch in the old town. Stroll along Rustaveli Avenue and visit to the Georgian National Museum
Dinner and overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 3MTSKHETA - BORJOMI - RABATI

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from Tbilisi. Visit Djvari, a 6th-century Georgian Orthodox monastery overlooking 3 arms of the rivers that meet. Then discover the ancient capital of Mtskheta. The spiritual heart of Georgia, a Unesco World Heritage site. Transfer to the troglodyte site of Ouplitsikhe, home to the first populations of the Caucasus before becoming a strategic stop on the Silk Road. Lunch in Ouplitsikhe
Journey to the town of Borjomi. Visit the city park
Transfer to Rabati. Dinner in Rabati and overnight in 3* hotel.

Vardzia

Day 4VARDZIA - RABATI

Breakfast at the hotel.
Transfer to the troglodyte town of Vardzia. In 1185, Queen Tamar assumed the throne of Georgia. To protect herself from Mongol invasions, she had the town of Vardzia dug out.
Lunch in Vardzia
Return transfer to Rabati Castle. And visit this 13th-century military building. The fortress had been destroyed several times, often during sieges, as a result of which it had absorbed traces of different cultures and religions. In 2012, a major restoration took place, after which the Rabati fortress in Akhaltsikhe was transformed into a city within a city.View of the Caucasus mountains!

Day 5 RABATI - KUTAISSI

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Kutaissi.
Lunch in Kutaissi
Visit the Ghelati monastery, long a cultural and intellectual center founded in 1106 by King David IV. You’ll see manuscripts and wall paintings dating from the 11th to 17th centuries, listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site; then visit the Motsameta monastery, smaller than Ghelati, set on a magnificent cliff-top promontory with a breathtaking view of the river and countryside.
Boat tour of the Prometheus Caves: the largest caves in Georgia (1600m long) and the deepest in the world.
Dinner in Kutaissi and overnight in a 3* hotel.

Day 6KUTAISSI - GORI - STEPANTSMINDA

Depart from Kutaissi to take the “Georgian military road”, which remains the only natural route linking the Caucasus from south to north.
Stop in Gori, Stalin’s birthplace, to visit the Stalin Museum.
Visit an internationally renowned Georgian vineyard, wine tasting and lunch in the vineyard.
Stop at the fortified ecclesiastical complex of Ananouri, with its churches and defensive tower enclosed in a fortress overlooking Lake Jinvali. Stop off at the Russo-Georgian Friendship Monument, where you can take in the breathtaking scenery.
Dinner in Stepantsminda and overnight in a 3* hotel.

Day 7STEPANTSMINDA - TELAVI

Breakfast at the hotel.
Departure for Gergeti church. This church, with Mount Kazbek (5200m) in the background, is one of Georgia’s most famous viewpoints. You’ll take some great photos and enjoy this memorable vantage point.
Transfer to Telavi, lunch in a restaurant on the banks of the Aragvi River.
Transfer to Alaverdi Monastery, a Georgian Orthodox monastery. Visit to the Ikalto academy, founded in the 6th century.
Dinner in Telavi and overnight in 3* hotel.

Day 8TELAVI - SIGHNAGHI

Breakfast at the hotel
Visit the house of Prince Alexander Chavchavadze, founder of Georgian Romanticism. He turned the estate in the village of Tsinandali, which he inherited from his father, into the country’s cultural and intellectual center, which it remains to this day. Then on to the fortified church of Grémi, an iconographic symbol of Georgia perched on a citadel at the foot of the Daguestan mountains. After this enriching visit, you’ll head off to a typical Georgian vineyard to learn how Quevri wine is made.
Lunch in the vineyard.
Transfer to Sighnaghi, visit Bodbé monastery, with views over the Alazani valley. Then visit Sighnaghi, perched on a 750-metre-high hill, with its immense wall, churches and balconied lanes.
Dinner in Sighnaghi and overnight in a 3* hotel.

Day 9SIGHNAGHI - DAVID GAREJA

Transfer to Dmanisi and visit the archaeological site where Homo Georgicus fossils (the first representatives of the Homo genus outside Africa, dated at 1.8 million years) were discovered.
Transfer to Bolnissi and lunch in Bolnissi.
Discover 2 typical churches.
Transfer to Tbilisi, end of day in Tbilisi.
Dinner in Tbilisi and overnight in a 3* hotel;
