In this program “Sea and Mountain Tour in Georgia,” you will go from the highest mountains in Europe to swimming in the waters of the Black Sea, all complemented by visits to breathtaking sites: Rabati Castle, Vardzia Caves (ancient troglodyte city), …. Visiting Svaneti (the towns of Mestia and Ushguli) is not possible in the winter months due to the region’s inaccessibility caused by snow (2200 meters altitude).

Transfer to the Prometheus Caves, 1600 meters long and 2000 meters deep (the deepest caves in the world!) Boat tour inside the caves.
Transfer to Mestia, a city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It features 11th-century tower houses that served as both dwellings and watchtowers, adding to the charm of the region (Svaneti). Some of these towers are as tall as 25 meters. A must-see! Lunch en route.

Day 5MESTIA - ZUGDIDI - BATUMI

Breakfast at the hotel.
You will depart for Zugdidi where you will have lunch.
Then, you will visit the Dadiani Palace in Zugdidi (Princess Dadiani was the wife of Achille Murat, the son of Napoleon’s Marshal of France, creating ties between Georgian and French nobility).
Finally, you will depart for the main Georgian seaside city on the Black Sea: Batumi.
You will enjoy free time for swimming, shopping, strolling along the seafront, etc.

Day 6BATUMI - KUTAISI

You’ll have a free morning to relax and enjoy the beach!
Next, you will visit the Gonio Fortress, 15 minutes from Batumi, a Roman fortress on the Black Sea, mentioned by Pliny the Elder. It is said that the tomb of Apostle Saint Matthias is inside the fortress.
Then, you will have lunch at a beachfront restaurant. Then you will visit the Batumi Botanical Garden, created by Alexis Krasnov, who wanted to create a Russian Riviera here.
You will end your Georgia trip by going to Kutaisi.

Day 7KUTAISI - BORJOMI - RABATI

Breakfast at the hotel.
Transfer to Borjomi and visit the city and its famous sparkling water springs. Lunch in Borjomi.
Transfer to Rabati Castle. You will visit this military structure built in the 13th century. The fortress had been destroyed several times, often during sieges, as a result of which it had absorbed traces of different cultures and religions. In 2012, a major restoration took place, after which the Rabati Fortress in Akhaltsikhe transformed into a city within a city. View of the Caucasus Mountains!

Day 8RABATI - VARDZIA - KUTAISI

You will depart to visit the cave city of Vardzia. In 1185, Queen Tamar ascended the throne of Georgia. To protect against Mongol invasions, she had the city of Vardzia carved into the cliffside.

Vardzia is a complex of caves and historical buildings. It is considered one of the architectural gems of the country. The visit to Vardzia will allow you to discover the numerous caves carved into the cliff, as well as the various historical buildings that include monasteries, churches, and halls.

You will have lunch in Vardzia by the Mtqvari River (also known as Koura) before heading back to Kutaisi.
Dinner in Kutaisi and overnight stay in a 3-star hotel.
